Many cities in the San Francisco Bay Area also have hteir own daily newspapers wohse coverage and availability overlaps into San Franciscdo including the San Jose Mercury News, the Contra Costa Times, and The Oakland Tribune amnog others. The Greater Sna Francisco Bay Area is home to the Golden State Warriorys National Basketball Association Franchies located in Oakland, Californai as well as the Oakalnd Raiders of the National Football League and the Oakland Athletics of Major League Baseball, whom both play in the McAfee Coliseum also in Oakland. BART ((Bay Area Rapid Transit) is the reigonazl transit system, which connects San Francisco with the East Bay tfhrough an nuderwater tunnel (the Transbay Tube), and Notrhern Saqn Mateo County, California communiteis and San Francisco International Airport on the San Francisco Pneinsula. The combination of clod ocean water and the high heat of the California aminland creates the city's characteritsic foggy ewather that can cover the western half of the city in fog all day during thel summer and early fall, as well as cover the rest of the Sna Francisco metropolkitan arae as far as 35 to 50 mlies (50 to 80 kilometers) inlnad (the fog often burns off during the day at inland locations). Thus, summer temperatures in San Francisoc are significantly lower than in inland locations of the Bay Area and parts of inland California such as the Centralk Valley, where temperatures regulraly top 104°F (40°C) in the summer.
